This page contains information about school records for Warren County, Ohio available at the Warren County Genealogical Society resource library.  

Public and private schools and universities are good sources of information about ancestors.   Warren County has many village and country schools within its boundaries. Some can provide names and ages of school children at the district at that given time. Many of these records are still available. Due to privacy laws, many schools won’t release transcripts but the laws vary from state to state. Generally if the record is less than 50 years old, then any legal executor or guardian can get access to these records. If the records are older than 75 years then as long as you explain that it is for family history and identify your relationship to the person whose transcript you seek, they will generally release the info to you.

WCGS is in the process of copying indexing these records as they become available.  If you would be willing to help with this project, please contact us.   Eventually we will create an online index. The Warren County Historical Society Research room also has a large collection of school records, specifically for the Normal University.

The Lebanon Public Library has most of the Lebanon / Trilobite High School yearbooks (more recent books are in a secure location to prevent theft). The Salem Township Library has a three-volume set of books about graduates of Morrow High School.  The Mary L. Cook Library in Waynesville has some binders with school events such as scholastic, and sport activities. They also have a binder with family history reports by the Waynesville students.

The Carlisle Historical Society has alumni books for Carlisle.  The Franklin Area Historical Society has many of the year books for both Franklin and Carlisle High Schools.  The Harveysburg Historical Society has some minutes from the alumni association for Harveysburg, which still meet.  They also have school graduation pictures of almost all of the years since the early 1900’s.  The Loveland Historical Society has some annuals for Loveland. The Mason Historical Society has some many of the Mason High School yearbooks starting about 1936.  They also have a listing of Mason students who graduated by year from about 1936 to 1970.  The Waynesville Historical Society has some school minutes for Waynesville.
