Location:

 The Catholic Cemetery is located 1 mile south of Morrow on the east side of Morrow-Woodville Road.  The property across the street is at 6193 Morrow-Woodville Rd.

This is not the same as the Shawhan [aka Landaker] Cemetery which is further south on Morrow-Woodville Rd between First Creek and Geihls-Carroll Road.

Cemetery History

 William Clement donated the land for the church and cemetery to be built upon.  The St. Malachy Parish was founded in 1849 and St. Malachy Church was erected in 1854.  Contains many Civil War veterans as follows: James Brown, Michael Dwyer, John Leddy, John McDermott, Owen E. McGinnis, Daniel McNamara, John McQuaid, Richard J. Roderick, William Shields, and Patrick Terrell.

    • Cheryl Jordan visited the cemetery in 2004/2005 and photographed all extant tombstone at the cemetery which are included below.
    • Cheryl Jordan revisited the cemetery in Feb. & Mar 2007 and took additional photos. Cheryl tells us that much restoration work has been done at the cemetery, uprighting toppled stones, etc.. An article published in the Cincinnati Enquirer on 17 Nov 2007 indicates that the work was done as an Eagle Scout project by Matthew Burkert of Fairfield Twp, Butler County The article, contributed by Sue Kiesewetter, said "By the time they were done the volunteers had cleaned 110 gravestones, retrieved stones from an old creek bed and others buried, rebuilt 50 markers and realigned 20 bases."
