This online index only lists the individual, death date (if known) and reference page. We are creating a master index of everyone who is buried in this county and their burial location to aid researchers. We are especially in need of people buried here who have no stones or whose stones no longer exist. If you have any of this information or if you have additional information for anyone who is buried in this cemetery, please email the Warren County Genealogical Society.

Cemetery History

This is an active cemetery operated by the Otterbein Lebanon Retirement Community. Otterbein is the successor to the large property holdings of the Union Village Shaker community. This cemetery is located in the general vicinity of one of the original Shaker burial grounds as shown on "A plan of the section of land on which the Believers live in the state of Ohio, Nov. 7th, 1807". As a general practice, the Shakers did not provide markers on the individual grave sites. As such, the gravestones present in the cemetery today mark the burial places of individuals who died in 1916 or later. It is 2.3 acres in size.  The cemetery is the final resting place for many veterans. In 2008, a memorial was erected to honor the 8 Revolutionary War Soldiers known to be buried here. Otterbein is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The cemetery is also the final resting place for many ministers and Methodist missionaries.
