known) and reference page. We are creating a master index of everyone who is
buried in this county and their burial location to aid researchers. We are
especially in need of people buried here who have no stones or whose stones no
longer exist. If you have any of this information or if you have additional information for anyone who is buried in
this cemetery,
please

Cemetery History |
This cemetery was started by the Maineville Baptist Church. The cemetery was located east of the log meeting house. After the log meeting house was torn down the cemetery was enlarged and the new burial plots were located west of the original cemetery. The first person buried here was Elijah Tufts in 19 Dec 1811. Beers History of Warren County page 615 contains the following passage. "The Maineville Burying Ground is of later origin. The following, copied from an inscription on a stone, probably marks about the time of its establishment as a resting-place for the dead: “Sacred to the memory of Peter Dudley, who departed this life October 22, 1819.” A "Memorial Garden" type addition was added across the street in 1988. Many veterans buried here. Revolutionary War veterans include: Ephraim Stevens and Francis Tufts. |
